Wolves compete against league teams

Oxford — Clarkston High School Track and Field teams wrapped the league at the OAA Red-White Championships on Friday.
The boys team finished in third place out of ten with 60 points.
The top eight finishes in the track events are: in the 200-meter dash, junior Mark Palmeter in seventh place in the time of 23.29; 400-meter dash, Palmeter, sixth, 52.02; 800-meter run, sophomore Bryce Nowik, fourth, 2:03.90; junior Henry Poploskie, fifth, 2:04.98; sophomore Andrew Floros, seventh, 2:05.61; 1,600-meter run, senior Joey Taverna, first, 4:24.45; senior Andrew Sesti, seventh, 4:40.00; 3,200-meter run, senior Hunter Bogar, seventh, 10:20.89; 110-meter hurdles, junior Colin Bastuba, fifth, 16.19; and senior Robert Spencer, seventh, 16.99.
Top finishes in the relay events came from the 3,200-meter team of Nowik, Floros, Sesti and Taverna for a second place finish in the time of 8:10.02.
The relay team of freshman Gave Van Goor, Palmeter, Taverna and Nowik finished in fourth place in the 1,600-meter relay, 3:35.12.
Two Wolves finished in the top eight in the field events with senior Landon Butcher in fifth place in the shot put with a distance of 40-09; and sophomore Nick Waszczenko in sixth place in discus with the distance of 116-05.

Lake Orion finished in first place with 152.5 points. Rochester Adams finished in second place with 129 points; Oxford, fourth, 52; Rochester, fifth, 50.5; Troy, sixth, 47; Stoney Creek, seventh, 43; Bloomfield Hills, eighth, 42; Troy Athens, ninth, 28; and Avondale, tenth, 19.
The girls finished in sixth place with 60 points during the meet.
The top eight finishes in the track events are: in the 400-meter dash, junior Annelise Lemieux in ninth place in the time of 1:04.37; 800-meter run, sophomore Alexandra Brigham, 2:28.66; junior Cate Cotter, seventh, 2:34.19; 1,600-meter run, Brigham, first, 5:18.74; senior Mackenzie Montigano, eighth, 13:02.58; and 100-meter hurdles, senior Brooke Perry, 17.49.
One of the top finishes for relay events for the Wolves was the 1,600-meter relay team of Brigham, Lemieux, senior Crysta Gasiorowski and freshman Keira Zorski finished in fourth place in the time of 4:17.73.
The top eight finishes in the field events are: in the discus, junior Nicole McCowey with the distance of 91-05; high jump, freshman Carsey Collins, second, 5-0; long jump, Collins, second, 16-02.5; and junior Emma Larkins, eighth, 15-03.75.
Oxford finished in first place with 134 points. Rochester Adams finished in second place with 85 points; Troy, third, 76; Lake Orion, fourth, 75; Rochester, 68; Bloomfield Hills, seventh, 56; Stoney Creek, eighth, 55; Troy Athens, ninth, 12; and Avondale, tenth, one.
Athletes who didn’t participate in the league meet or are heading to the region meet, head to the Bill Breen JV Relays at Troy High School on Wednesday.
The Wolves head to the MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 1, Region 9 Track and Field meet at Lapeer on Friday. It is held at the Center for Innovation – West Campus, 170 Millville Road in Lapeer. The first event is at 11 a.m. with pole vault.
