PHF grants aim to improve recreational opportunities

HANCOCK, MI— The Portage Health Foundation has funded six projects aimed at increasing recreational opportunities in the Copper Country:

  • $20,000 went to Camp Josh in Ontonagon County, which offers recreation to individuals with disabilities and veterans.
  • The Copper Harbor Trails Club received $15,000 for upgrades.
  • Horizons Alternative School in Mohawk got $19,969 for construction of an ice rink.
  • $16,745 went to the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club for trail upgrades.
  • $14,000 will be used by Adventure Mountain in Greenland Township to purchase a trail groomer.
  • Second Sands Beach in Baraga County will use $20,000 to create a beach access path.
