The next round of American Rescue Plan Act grant funds has been delayed for about a week due an issue with a Kendall County Board meeting agenda Tuesday.

The county was set to release $900,000 for area nonprofit organizations hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the plan was derailed because the meeting agenda listed several items that the board was supposed to vote on as the small business grant program and not the nonprofit grant program. The nonprofit grant program is now expected to be approved at a special meeting next week.

State's Attorney Eric Weis says it's a matter of adhering to the Open Meetings Act.

The board did approve one of the incorrectly labeled items. Weis says because it was improper, the board will vote on it again at a special meeting. That meeting will happen at the Finance Committee Meeting Thursday, May 26th.

Board member Matt Kellogg says there have been some tweaks made to the program to allow more nonprofit groups to apply.

Kellogg says the county will eventually hold an informational session to help nonprofits apply.

Once the program is approved, nonprofit groups can apply online for up to $25,000.
