Sgt. Todd Leveille added to Fallen Troopers Memorial

A Port Huron Township man who served with the Michigan State Police for more than 25 years is now the 55th name to appear on the Fallen Troopers Memorial. 

Sgt. Todd Leveille, 53, died Dec. 9 following a duty-related exposure to COVID-19. Law enforcement, family and friends honored his memory with a service and a police escort on Dec. 16.

Leveille's name was added to the Lansing memorial in a ceremony on May 2, according to a Tweet from Michigan State Police Bay Region.

Leveille ran the D.A.R.E program early in his career and earning a Trooper of the Year award in 2005.

Loved ones described Leveille as a funny, jovial person who was devoted to his career and family.

Dedicated in October 2001, the memorial honors all members of the Michigan State Police who die in the line of duty, regardless of rank, enlisted or civilian status. 

The centerpiece of the memorial is a granite wall arranged in a semi-circle, with the names of the fallen engraved around the slanting face of the wall. 

The wall is funded by private donations through the Michigan State Trooper Assistance Fund.
