Lake County resident John Ollila will share his stories, images, and songs about sailing on the Great Lakes alone and as a crew member on various tall ships during a program set for 5 to 6 p.m., June 2, at Morley Library, 184 Phelps St.

Ollila has sailed on various tall ships and participated in multiple singlehanded sailing events including challenges on all of the Great Lakes and in Canada, according to a news rleease. For the past 16 years, he has served as a mate with the Maritime Heritage Alliance on the schooner Madeline, a replica of a Great Lakes tall ship originally built in Fairport Harbor in 1845.

This presentation is part of Morley Library’s Summer Reading 2022: Oceans of Possibility. All ages are invited to register for Summer Reading and complete challenges to earn prizes from June 1 – July 16.
