Salem Wildcats Head To Vandalia Today For Regional Showdown With Teutopolis

The Salem Wildcats are scheduled to open up the 2a Vandalia Regional tonight, weather permitting, with a game against Teutopolis.  First pitch is set for 6pm following the first game of the night between Paris and Vandalia.  You can listen to Salem and TTown on WJBD tonight at 6pm.  You can also listen to the stream at WJBDradio.com.  The winners will advance to Saturday’s title game.

Also in 2a semifinals tonight at Marquette it’s Columbia taking on Staunton followed by Althoff and Marquette.  Nashville and Zeigler play at DuQuoin, Breese Central hosts Mater Dei, Gillespie welcomes Carlinville, Harrisburg hosts Massac County, Marshall plays at Newton, Freeburg begins defense of their 2a state title at Red Bud against Sparta.

In 1a the Louisville Regional get’s underway with the sectional’s top seed and host North Clay Cardinals taking on Cisne.  Also today at Albion, Waltonville plays Wayne City and Trico takes on Edwards County, Altamont hosts Brownstown/St Elmo, Windsor plays Kansas at Casey and at Waterloo it’s Gibault against Dupo followed by Marissa and Valmeyer.

The 1a regionals opened last night as Christ Our Rock got past Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 2-1.  Colton Oelze was the complete game winner allowing 4 hits and 1 run with 7 strikeouts.  And a touching moment prior to the game as the two teams came together to pray for the Sandoval Community who lost 2 young people this week to a car accident with a 3rd injured.
