Dying Light 2 developer Techland has announced that it's currently hiring for its next major project: an open-world fantasy RPG.

The studio confirmed the as-yet unnamed project in a press release that doubled up as a hiring push. Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka stressed that the studio remains committed to supporting Dying Light 2 with new content for the next five years (at least), but added that it's time to move towards the next big thing.

"Our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is vastly different from what we have been doing for the past several years," Marchewka said in the press release. "We want to create a fully next-gen experience. A new fantasy epic set in a sprawling open world, fueled by the skills and experience we have gained as a team over the years, infused with new ideas, passion, and creativity."

While Techland is still looking to fill a range of positions, it's already hired some serious talent. Narrative director Karolina Stachyra and narrative lead Arkadiusz Borowik both worked at CD Projekt RED on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Meanwhile, open world director Bartosz Ochman will bring what he learned on Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 to the table.

The team also includes a number of veterans from some of the biggest games of the last few years, including Deathloop, Mad Max, and Horizon Zero Dawn. All in all, Techland is assembling a serious dream team.

Various job listings tease a few details. Select candidates will be working on effects for "explosions, flames, dust, sprays of water, effects of magic", while others will be "developing the weather, times of day, and nature of lighting in different regions of an open-world game in accordance with their climate zones."

A third listing specifically mentions experience with first-person perspective and third-person perspective games, which suggests Techland's new-game could be a hybrid of the two, not dissimilar to Skyrim.

It's obviously very early days for this mysterious project right now, but we'll be sure to update you as soon as learn more.
