What had been an excellent baseball season for the Todd County Central Rebels came to a bit of a disappointing end Monday night. Logan County scored all eight of its runs in the second inning as the Cougars advanced to the 13th District championship game with an 8-4 win over the Rebels.

Pitching struggles were the difference in the inning as the big rally was set up by five walks and one hit batter. Three of the Logan County runs scored on bases-loaded walks in the inning as the Cougars built an 8-0 lead.

The Rebels tried to work their way back into the game, but the hole was too deep.

Gavyn Nolan scored on a wild pitch in the fourth to cut the lead to 8-1. The Rebels added another run in the fifth on a bases-loaded fielder’s choice.

The Rebels looked for a moment like they would pull out a last-minute rally in the seventh. The first five batters all reached base for Todd Central as they cut the lead to 8-4. However, Logan County pitcher Logan Gidcumb then struck out three straight batters to end the threat and the Rebels’ season.

Gavyn Nolan ended up 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Preston Rager, Nate Reding, Tanner Farmer, Jacob Brandon, and Grady Reding, all had one hit for Todd Central.

Rebel errors in the game ended up being costly as Todd County Central gave up only three earned runs in the contest during the decisive second inning.

Todd County Central sees its season end with a 22-11 record.
