Two familiar faces in Asheville will be facing off for the city's top seat in November: incumbent Esther Manheimer and councilmember Kim Roney.
The two were the top vote-getters in Tuesday's nonpartisan primary for Asheville mayor, with Manheimer getting 42.27% of the vote and Roney getting 33.43% of the vote.
"I'm approaching this instead of a win-lose, as a learn-learn. And I think the numbers reflect that. My neighbors seem to want to do that, work with me," Roney told News 13 prior to her advancement to the general election becoming official.
She and Manheimer were the top two in this race since the results from the first few precincts started rolling in.
"This was a challenging race. We had good candidates in this race. This is running for my third term as mayor and nothing's a given," Manheimer said.
Following behind the two were Cliff Feingold, who got 16.02% of the vote, Michael Hayes, who got 6.79%, and Jonathan Wainscott, who got 1.49%.
