Pirates farm report for May 17, 2022: Nick Gonzales doubles twice, homers for Curve

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 18-16) blanked Toledo (Tigers), 7-0, as five pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout. RHP Osvaldo Bido (3.76) worked a scoreless first. RHP Cody Bolton (1-1, 3.86) followed with four scoreless, allowing one hit and fanning six. LHP Cam Vieaux (1.53) and RHP Yerry De Los Santos (1.98) pitched one scoreless inning and RHP Hunter Stratton (3.71) threw two. DH Cal Mitchell (.3-2) went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. C Carter Bins was 2 for 4 and drove in a pair. 1B Mason Martin (.256) went 2 for 3 with a walk, a double and two runs scored. 2B Ji-hwan Bae (.278) went 2 for 4. Oneil Cruz (.185) went 1 for 5 with a run scored and played shortstop and left field.

Next: Wednesday vs. Toledo (Tigers), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 15-19) demolished Richmond (Giants), 12-2. 2B Nick Gonzales (.231) went 3 for 4 with two doubles and his third home run, a two-run shot. C Blake Sabol (.290) went 2 for 3 with two homers, his third and fourth. DH Andres Alvarez (.271) also homered, hitting his fifth. RF Connor Scott (.286) went 2 for 4 with a double. RHP Kyle Nicolas started and went four innings, allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts. RHP Travis MacGregor (1-1, 5.16) gave up one run on three hits and four walks in 2.2 innings to earn the win.

Next: Wednesday vs. Richmond (Giants), 11 a.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 14-19) was beaten by Bowling Green (Rays), 6-2. DH Jacob Gonzalez (.652) went 3 for 4 and hit his fourth home run. CF Matt Gorski (.271) went 2 for 4 with his 10th home run. RHP Jared Jones (2-2, 5.97) started and worked five innings, giving up three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Next: Wednesday vs. Bowling Green (Rays), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 16-18) was blanked by Palm Beach (Cardinals), 4-0, managing six hits. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.248) and CF Jase Bowen (.229) each went 2 for 4 with a double. LHP Luis Peralta (0-3, 6.20) started and went five innings, allowing five hits, walking none and striking out five. RHP Carlos Lomeli (3.86) pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
