By Afton Wooten

Mezzo-soprano Guadalupe Peraza and the American Classical Orchestra will return to Harlem Parish to finally perform  “Revisit: The Chaconne Project” in person on June 22, 2022 at 7 p.m.

Originally, the live premiere was to take place on Feb. 3, 2022, but was postponed due to the Omnicron variant. The ensemble created a digital version of “The Chaconne Project” in 2020 at the same location.

The program focuses on Baroque works featuring the Chaconne. The Chaconne is a genre that originated in the 16th century in Spanish culture as a dance and now can be recognized by its musical form of a repeating bass line. Works by J.S. Bach, Claudio Monteverdi, Henry Purcell, Barbara Strozzi, and more. ACO’s Artistic Director and Founder, Thomas Crawford leads the chamber ensemble made up of all Baroque period instruments.

Tickets are available now and all audience members are required to show proof of vaccination.
