In the lieutenant governor race, local GOP voters went with state Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso of Allegheny County. She, too, received more than twice as many local votes as others in the Republican field, and was declared winner by the Associated Press late Tuesday with the backing of 1 in 4 GOP voters.

Fellow Allegheny County state Rep. Austin Davis won by a similar margin in Somerset County on the Democratic side in the lieutenant governor race, securing a landslide victory overall and ensuring his name on the November ballot.

U.S. Senate

In Pennsylvania's competitive GOP U.S. Senate primary, Dave McCormick appeared to top Dr. Mehmet Oz in Somerset County by less than 100 votes. Kathy Barnette was in a respectable third, with several other candidates trailing in the distance.

These numbers reflected statewide figures showing McCormick and Oz in a dead heat through Wednesday afternoon with 95% of precincts reporting.

On the Democratic side, voters at both the local and state level went overwhelmingly for John Fetterman, the commonwealth's current lieutenant governor. He won handily in a field that included Conor Lamb, Alex Khalil and Malcolm Kenyatta.

The Associated Press called this race for Fetterman before 9 p.m. Tuesday.
