Late Friday afternoon on May 13th Ogle County Deputies, Monroe Center Fire/EMS and Stillman Valley Fire/EMS responded to the intersection of East Illinois Route 72 and the I-39 southbound off ramp for a two-vehicle accident.
After investigation, it was determined that a Jeep Patriot, driven by 22-year-old Meagan Prosise of Davis Junction was traveling westbound on East Illinois Route 72. A Silverado pick-up truck, driven by 60-year-old Aurelio Mascorro-Arenas of Irving, Texas was traveling southbound on the I-39 southbound off ramp.
The pick-up failed to stop at the posted stop sign, at which time the red Jeep struck the Chevrolet near the rear driver side wheel, causing major damage to both vehicles.
A juvenile, who was transported to Saint Anthony’s Hospital for minor injuries, accompanied Prosise. Aurelio-Mascorro and passenger, 19-year-old Maria Mascorro-Pacheco, also of Irving, Texas, were both transported to Saint Anthony’s Hospital for minor injuries.
Aurelio-Mascorro was issued a citation for Failure to Stop at an Intersection.
