Tigers headed to State

Last weekend, the Acorn High School baseball team completed in the 2A West Regional Tournament at Mansfield.

In the first round on Friday, the Tigers matched up with Life Way Christian, and defeated the Warriors 9-4, to clinch a spot in the 2A State Tournament and advance to the Regional semi-finals.

On Saturday in the semi-finals, Acorn took on Mountainburg and edged past the Dragons 8-7, advancing on to the Regional Finals with another shot at the Mansfield Tigers.

Just a few hours after defeating Mountainburg, the Tigers of both Acorn and Mansfield took the field to determine the Regional Champions. In a hard-fought and tight game, Mansfield took a close one 4-2 over Acorn.

Acorn was crowned 2A Regional Runner-Ups, and earned a #2 seed going into the State Tournament.

This season, the 2A State Baseball Tournament is being hosted by South Side Bee Branch and will begin on Thursday.

In the first round on Thursday, Acorn will match up with Rector, the #3 seed from the north region. First pitch is set for 12:30pm. The winner of Thursday’s game will play the winner of Dierks and Bigelow on Friday at 10:00am.
