The following contains casting spoilers from the motion picture Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, now in theaters.
The Marvel TV alum behind a mind-blowing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo has broken their silence, no puns intended.
Midway through the MCU’s latest big-screen entry, Mordo — the Sorcerer Supreme on Earth-838 — presents Stephen Strange to the Illuminati, a secret society led by Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier (of the X-Men movies) and counting among its ranks Reed Richards (the Fantastic 4’s “Mr. Fantastic,” played here for a first time by Jack Ryan‘s John Krasinski) and Maria Rambeau in the Captain Marvel persona (Lashana Lynch reprising her Captain Marvel role).
The Illuminati also includes Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter, rocking the Captain Carter supersoldier persona that was teased in Disney+’s animated What If…? series, as well as Blackagar Boltagon aka Black Bolt, who was played again by Anson Mount of ABC’s very short-lived Marvel’s Inhumans — with both a bit of a wink and a much-needed costume upgrade.
Nearly two weeks after the blockbuster’s release, Mount has spoken about his cameo, writing on Twitter that the call he received from Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige “was one of the most unexpected of my life.
“It was an honor and joy to finally work w/ [director] Sam Raime [sic] who reached out to engage me on how best to do this,” Mount added. “Beyond grateful for the experience.”
Mount, who now headlines Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, capped his message with the “🤯” emoji, which is, well… fitting (if a bit #TooSoon)… and attached an illustration of the Black Bolt comic book character, whose appearance he was able to better emulate in Doctor Strange 2 than in Inhumans.
Finally able to discuss this w/out providing too many spoilers. Getting the call from @Kevfeige was one of the most unexpected of my life. It was an honor & joy to finally work w/ Sam Raime who reached out to engage me on how best to do this. Beyond grateful for the experience 🤯 pic.twitter.com/aRIwr8A4E7

“what mouth?”
Would love to see Anson Mount again as Blackbolt (another variant of course) and have Fiege and Marvel Studios do justice in the Inhumans.
He’s pretty but misspelling Sam Raimi’s name is a pretty epic fail lol.
So have all of rami’s attempts at super hero films. So it fits
Tell us you haven’t seen Spider-Man 1-2 without telling us you haven’t seen Spider-Man 1-2.
I have seen them, I don’t care for them at all. I am happy with the newest incarnation. Thankfully I only sat through Spider-man 2 once, that was enough for me. I just don’t find Raimi’s work interesting or funny at all.
Ah so you have no taste then, got it.
leave the camp and goofy to Adam west and just tell good stories. The dialogue was laughable in serious moments, and the design choices were a joke. Raimi’s films are not for everyone, I don’t understand why personal preference is being attacked here. I’m not here saying you have bad taste bc you like them, just that they are not for me and happy it was handed off.
You didn’t say they weren’t to your taste, you said they were epic fails. So, in fact, you were saying people have bad taste for liking them.
.
Sure you weren’t talking about the Amazing movies?
Now that they can legally use mutants, I’m not sure that the MCU will still want to toss in Inhumans too, which is sad news for fans of Mount’s Blackbolt; or of Agents of SHIELD faves like Daisy/Quake and Yo-yo.
What “upgrade?” You mean his head exploding? THAT upgrade?
I’m so sick of Kevin Feige and his egomania. He’s been doing more harm than good at this point for years. He may as well just poop on a dish, stick a little MARVEL flag on it, and serve it to the fanbase.
Oops, just described WandaVision. And Captain Marvel. And Infinity War. And Endgame. And…
Wow! You must be trolling lol. You need a hug homie?
What the heck are you talking about? All this upset over a character that already had been sullied near beyond repair by J loeb but you blame Feige?? How exactly is he and egomaniac? Is this Bob Chapek’s burner account?
The difference is that almost nobody watched the Inhumans series. This is the first big screen representation and they basically trolled the character. If they want to bring him in properly, this will already be seared into the audience’s collective minds.
Well the multiverse means there’s more versions of this character out there so he can always come back. Also i don’t think anyone is really that huge of a black bolt fan. Besides Paul Jenkins 12 issue series and Saladin Ahmed’s 12 issue series they’re mostly background characters with no real compelling stories unique to just the royal family. So I don’t really see how trolling a character no one really cared about to begin with even in the comics matters plus they can always bring him back and people will be fine they’re not gonna care he died in another universe before
So they’re cancelling the FF movie for the same reason?
@Baxatak Time to switch to decaf, sport.
Lol stop watching them they still make enough money without your support.
done harm????
his work has made billions and the D+ show much watched.
MCU is the biggest thing in hollywood thanks to kevin and his crew
I hope that things get better for you.
Who pooped in your coffee? If you don’t like don’t wTch it’s pretty simple. They’ll make billions without you :)
I think we found a Terence Howard burner account. Guys still upset they didn’t pay him more than RDJ.
I avoid MCU spoilers like the plague but has to click on this article because I was so hoping the cameo was Chloe Bennet. Still hoping her incarnation of Daisy Johnson returns to our screens one day.
She’d be more fitting for Secret Invasion anyway.
I’m actually glad it wasn’t her in this particular case, because things really did not turn out very well for most of the surprise cameo characters in this film.
By the end of the movie, I was glad none of my favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. characters made a surprise cameo.
She ain’t coming back
I see no reason not to bring characters from Agents of SHIELD onto the big screen now.
My theory is Agents of shield isn’t earth 616, it’s been relegated to another universe with everything that happened post snap in season 5,6,7 , but I’d love for them to pop up because I love the show!
Anson is great! I love his Pike in Star Trek: SNW and now again as Black Bolt! Hey Feige…more Anson Mount please!!!
It’s nice that they brought him back, but I’ve got serious problems with the way they treated the Black Bolt character. Just a waste.
Nothing really wasted, since this was a multiversal variant. We can always have another multiversal variant, or show the 616 version, in a later story.
The Worst Marvel Movie Ever!!!!!!!
They turned heroes into dark, evil characters, which caused myself, my kids and grandkids to never want to see another Marvel movie ever again.
The kids and their friends are all upset, because Disney has killed their heroes and turned them into the badguys that they had been fighting against in the previous movies.
Stan Lee is turning in his grave and cursing Disney for this abomination of a story line.
Everyone I have heard from is angry with Disney. This was completely unnecessary. If our heroes can go bad so easily, then what hope do our kids have for America remaining the good guys of the world?
Then maybe it’s well past time for you and your kids to learn that the US have never actually been the “good guys of the world.”
Ok let’s get you back to bed Grandpa
Most the the storyline with Wanda and the Darkhold and everything came from the comics when Stan was in charge, so I doubt it.
1. US isn’t now or ever was the “greatest” country in the world, nor have you been “good guys” for a LONG time. You’ve caused more havoc in this world than good at this point.
2. These are storylines lifted directly from the comics. If you don’t like that – then don’t watch. No one is forcing you. I’m sure Disney will cry over your lost dollars compared to the billions they are making from true fans of this content.
3. Go to sleep boomer.
1. Said on an American website talking about an American TV show and American movie.
2. Agreed.
3. Don’t tell on yourself.
