Two people have been arrested for the home invasion and vicious assault of a man on Rabbit Flat Road late Monday.

Monday night at approximately 10:20, Sgt. Clay Boone and Deputies Nick Pruitt and Erik Franklin along with EMS were dispatched to the 2500 block of Rabbit Flat Road after a 911 caller said two males assaulted a man inside his home.

The victim suffered severe head injuries while being struck with an unknown object, and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital.

The two suspects left the residence in an older model white sedan, witnesses said, traveling north on Rabbit Flat Road.

Deputies scoured the area searching for the suspects, but had no luck.

Then, Tuesday morning at 12:18, the two suspects, 24-year-old Jacob W. Finley, of Caneyville, and 22-year-old William Basham, of Grayson County, arrived at Leitchfield Police Department headquarters and surrendered to authorities.

Both men had existing warrants for their arrest for a burglary committed Sunday morning in Big Clifty that was investigated by Grayson County Sgt. Jason Luedke and LPD Officer DJ Newton.

The suspects were interviewed at LPD headquarters and arrested, with both charged with second-degree assault and two counts of burglary (first- and second-degree).

Finley and Basham were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

Finley, in August 2019, was arrested after trying to break into a 95-year-old woman’s home in the 10000 block of Falls of Road. As a result, he was placed into a diversion program.
