Dothan City leader reacts to the Buffalo supermarket mass shooting

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) —A Dothan City leader reacts to Saturday’s massacre at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.

District 1 City Commissioner, Kevin Dorsey, tells WDHN that no city, town, or county is exempt from what happened at the Buffalo supermarket, adding this is why it’s important to stay alert and always know the signs of someone who is disturbed.

He says mental health isn’t just a nationwide issue, but one that is close to home and a reason why the city works closely with different organizations to provide mental health services.

“Just be cautious in knowing that it could possibly be Dothan,” Dorsey said. “It’s not Dothan, thank God, but just staying mindful and stay prayed up.”

Spectracare Health Systems’ future mental health crisis center was just approved by lawmakers and will be located in Houston County, and Dorsey said this is just one step to ensuring people’s mental health is a top priority within the community.
