Absentee voting for primary election starts Wednesday in Adel

ADEL, Iowa — Absentee ballots for the June 7 primary election will be available for casting starting Wednesday at 8 a.m. in the Dallas County Auditor’s office at 210 N. 10th St. in Adel.

Dallas County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Julia Helm said the absentee ballots may be cast in person during her office’s regular hours Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Wednesday, May 18 until Monday, June 6 at 5 p.m.

Helm’s office will also begin mailing absentee ballots Wednesday to voters who request them. Requests for absentee ballots to be mailed must be made in writing. Forms are available at the Helm’s office and on the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.

All requests for ballots to be mailed must be received by the auditor’s office by 5 p.m. May 23. In order for your ballot to count, it must be returned by the close of polls on election day, that is, by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7.
