Polls in Pennsylvania closed at 8 p.m. Tuesday night, but the counting continues.

• State Rep. Emily Kinkead, D-Brighton Heights, won Tuesday’s Democratic primary in Pennsylvania’s 20th State House District, according to unofficial results.

• State Rep. Jessica Benham, D-South Side, trounced her opponent in Tuesday’s Democratic primary race in the 36th State House District, according to unofficial tallies.

• Former Allegheny County Councilwoman Cindy Kirk won her Republican primary race in the 30th State House District by more than a 4-to-1 margin, according to unofficial tallies.

• More than 41% of Republicans and nearly 40% of registered Democrats in Westmoreland County voted in Tuesday’s gubernatorial and U.S. Senate primaries, numbers that have local political leaders predicting an energetic fall campaign.

Pennsylvania election law requires an automatic recount if the difference between the top two candidates for a statewide office is 0.5% of the vote or less.

• Heart surgeon-turned-TV celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund CEO David McCormick went into Wednesday essentially tied in Pennsylvania’s hotly contested Republican nomination for an open U.S. Senate seat, expected to be among the nation’s most competitive races in the fall.

• Doug Mastriano has won the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania governor, overcoming an eleventh-hour push by the state’s GOP political establishment to consolidate support around an alternative in the crowded primary.

• Lt. Gov. John Fetterman has won the state’s Democratic primary for U.S. Senate just days after suffering a stroke. Fetterman jumped out to a commanding early lead for the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania’s high-stakes U.S. Senate race, but he didn’t get to enjoy the moment alongside supporters.

• Pennsylvania Democrats gave their nominee for governor his choice for second-in-command on Tuesday, selecting state Rep. Austin Davis to be their lieutenant governor candidate in the fall election.

• Democrats in the state have made their choice for governor official, handing the nomination to second-term state Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

• Newly elected state Rep. Aerion Abney led by a wide margin Tuesday over the Rev. Glenn Grayson in a Democratic primary race in the 19th State House District.

• Former Ross Township Commissioner Jeremy Shaffer and Iraq War veteran and voting-rights attorney Chris Deluzio staked early leads in their primary races Tuesday in the 17th Congressional District.

• Pittsburgh lawyer Steve Irwin climbed out to an early lead in a five-way race for the Democratic nomination in the 12th Congressional District.

• In Westmoreland County, two incumbent Republicans were vying to retain their seats in the state House in Tuesday’s primary election. Rep. Jason Silvis of Washington Township is seeking to hold off two challengers to win the Republican nomination in newly shaped 55th legislative district, while Rep. George Dunbar of Penn Township ran ahead of one challenger in his bid for a seventh term.

• Unofficial election results from Tuesday’s primary election show Lori Mizgorski with a commanding lead for the Republican nomination in the state 38th Senatorial District race.

• Mandy Steele of Fox Chapel has won the Democratic nomination for the 33rd District state House seat.
