GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — There have been a slew of violent incidents, both in Wisconsin and across the country in recent weeks. From the racially motivated shooting in Buffalo, New York to the arson attack on a pro-life group’s offices in Madison, police locally have increased their vigilance.
“We pay attention to that,” Green Bay Police Chief Chris Davis told WTAQ. “We look at those events and see if there is anything we can learn from them and if there is anything we should watch for here, and be as vigilant as you can.”
He says one thing police aren’t interested in is suppressing freedom of speech.
“We’re not interested in the content of anyone’s free speech exercise,” said Davis. “When it comes to criminal activity, we’re always looking for signs.”
He says they constantly monitor intelligence to determine whether or not there is any threat of violence in the city.
