An unlicensed driver was arrested Friday after driving away from a traffic stop, contrary to the advice of the deputy.

On May 13th at 11:04 p.m. Deputy J.K. Griffith conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Landmark Drive. The driver was identified as Ayasha Diamond, 39, of Spotsylvania. She was issued a summons for being unlicensed and informed she could not drive.

As the deputy returned to his patrol car, Diamond pulled away with her headlights off. Deputy Griffith was not tricked by the lack of headlights, and he activated his siren to conduct another traffic stop. Instead of stopping, Diamond continued on Landmark Drive to a right on Persevere Drive, to a left on Masters Drive and finally a right into the cul-de-sac of Pebble Beach Drive.

At the dead end, Diamond was taken into custody and charged with no driver’s license, eluding, expired registration, improper display of registration and no headlights. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the magistrate released Diamond on an unsecure bond.
