IT HAPPENED JUST BEREFO 3 O’CLOCK THIS AFTERONNO NEAR 17TH AND GARFIELD SOUTHEAST OF MLK PARK ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF DES MOINES POLICE. Three teenagers were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a shooting on the east side of Des Moines. Police said a large fight turned into gunfire near East 17th Street and Garfield Avenue. The fight broke out at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. One group fired at the other group, and the groups separated. At that point, the other group fired back, according to police.The teens' injuries are non-life-threatening. Police aren't sure whether the shots were fired from a vehicle or from outside of a vehicle. Police report that there's no ongoing threat to the general public.Stay with KCCI as this story develops.
