Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, will deliver the commencement address for the University of Maryland Baltimore on Thursday, the university said.
Fauci, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will address the latest graduating class of nurses, doctors and pharmacists.
Fauci became a household name during the COVID-19 pandemic, acting as the primary government medical expert for both the Trump and Biden administrations.
Students are graduating from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, University of Maryland School of Nursing, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland School of Dentistry, University of Maryland School of Social Work, University of Maryland School of Law and University of Maryland Graduate School.
The ceremony will be held at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Catonsville.
Also Thursday, the University of Maryland School of Medicine will hold its commencement at the Hippodrome Theatre. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy will be the keynote speaker.
