The Ben Silver Corporation has added a new tie to their collection in an effort to raise money for Ukraine relief.
The longtime Charleston clothing business said all proceeds from the yellow and blue stripe necktie will go to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to assist the people of Ukraine in wartimes.
Owners Bob and Sue Prennar said they've already raised $78,000 in less than a month.
"We know that this is a small gesture, but we think it's important for us to show our feelings what horrible things are going on in Europe," Bob Prennar said.
Each tie is a minimum contribution of $200, though people can contribute as much as desired. The ties can be purchased online.
The Prennars said when a Ukraine relief tie is purchased, they will then transfer the entire payment to IRC, who will send the purchaser a confirmation receipt of the donation. The gift will be tax deductible.
The ties are made from Italian silk in Ben Silver's artisan workroom in England.
Yellow and blue are the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The tie's design was inspired by a customer.
