After a five-month long search for answers, a Virginia landlord is finally getting the help he needs when it comes to rent relief.
"As it stands right now, I still don't have any money. All I got is a promise," said Benjamin Quintana.
Quintana owns two rental properties in Danville.
He and his tenants applied for the Virginia Gov 2 Go rent relief program in December.
His tenants' information and documents successfully uploaded, but his did not, so he said he was out the $40,000 he should have gotten from the relief program.
He reached out to program directors for help but said he never got it over the last five months.
The program deadline was May 15. On May 14, a day after ABC13's original story on this problem, he finally got some answers.
"[One property] was approved and she said they'd be sending a check soon. The [other property] is not approved as of yet, but she anticipated it being approved today," Quintana said.
The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development was unable to interview Tuesday. ABC 13 is awaiting a response to questions.
"I have no idea how much money I'm getting, if any. But the fact that I've got a promise, that's a step in the right direction," Quintana said.
