PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – In an offseason of a complete roster overhaul, another new face for Pitt men’s basketball on Tuesday. According to multiple reports, and first by Jon Rothstein, the Panthers adding Marquette transfer Greg Elliott.

The 6’3”, 180-pound guard is originally from Detroit and had offers from Michigan State, Providence and others out of high school.  Elliott averaged a career-high seven points a game to go along with 1.3 assists and two rebounds in 28 games with one start.  He also shot 38.6% from three last season and 40.9% for his career.  He is a career 82% from the foul line, 89% in 2021-22.  Elliott scored 22 points against UCLA, 18 points against Xavier, 14 points (on 4 of 6 shooting) against Villanova and 25 points against DePaul last year.

Elliott is the second-leading scorer in the history of his East Detroit high school and finished fourth in Michigan’s Mr. Basketball Award in 2016-17 averaging 28 points and nine rebounds a game.

The Panthers lost eight players off last year’s roster, seven to the transfer portal.  Elliott joins Iowa State transfer Blake Hinson and Colgate graduate transfer Nelly Cummings at Pitt.  The Panthers also added JUCO transfer forward Fede Federiko and a pair of freshmen forwards or swing-players in twins Guillermo and Jorge Diaz-Graham.
