Kelly Wilson, a second-grade teacher at Johnston Elementary, has been named the school's teacher of the year.
Some of her students shared what they love about their teacher.
"She does nice things. She lets me sit at the tables when I ask her. And sometimes she lets me use her markers," Daizy Willams Jefferson said of her teacher.
"She was the best teacher," Rosabella Lalita said of her teacher. "She let me hug her."
Wilson, who has been teaching at Johnston Elementary for five years, spent most of her career teaching third grade. But she made the switch to second grade and said she loves it.
"It means a lot to be at this school for me," Wilson said. "I think it's a great school. The teachers work so hard. And that is a great community. I love that about being at this school. The support you get and the kids are just awesome and they learn so much. So, I love being at this school and it means a lot to be selected by my peers as teacher of the year. I thought that was very special."
