What Wisconsin City Was Just Named The #3 Place To Live In The United States?

The Midwest is a great place to live, right?  We don't need anyone to tell us that.  But, sometimes it is nice to receive some national recognition.

As a border community, residents of the Twin Ports - Duluth and Superior - get to benefit from all that both states - Minnesota and Wisconsin - have to offer.  Maybe that's why we always find those national lists that details the "best of"-something so interesting; we have two states to look for.

Well, a recently compiled list of the "150 Best Places to Live in the United States in 2022-2023" includes a community in one of our two border-states in the top five. In fact, that community is listed as number three!

According to the U.S. News and World Report, Green Bay, Wisconsin takes the honors as the "number three Best Places to Live" on their list. That ranking was based on a "Value" score of 8.5, a "Quality of Life" score of 7.1, and an "Overall Score" of 6.8.

Here's what the editors and data compilers at U.S News and World Report had to say about Green Bay:

"Home to one of the most storied football franchises in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers, Green Bay has the perfect mix of big-city amenities complemented with a Midwestern, small-town feel. This city boasts a thriving entertainment and arts scene, revitalized downtown, and two college campuses, creating an energy that may appeal to young families as well as retirees."

The city earned overall points for it's mix of commercial, education, and entertainment.  But the editors were also impressed with the wide variety of outdoor activities and trails that Green Bay has to offer:

"While the city continues to be a major shipping center, summertime on the Fox River is alive with waterskiing, riverfront dining and sunset cruises. The Fox River State Trail, a wooded walking and biking trail that runs parallel with the river, is a prominent section of the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. "

And what would a city in Wisconsin - beer capitol of the world - be without some mention of that beverage?

"A thriving craft beer industry, an array of restaurant options and its proximity to weekend getaway destination Door County make Green Bay a good place to settle down and stay. "

That third place ranking by Green Bay, Wisconsin had a few close "neighbors" - although not in as rarified of a ranking.  Here are some of the other rankings of cities near us in Duluth-Superior

• Ann Arbor, Michigan - ranked number 11
• Des Moines, Iowa - ranked number 14
• Grand Rapids, Michigan - ranked number 16
• Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota - ranked number 26!
• Kalamazoo, Michigan - ranked number 39
