Police are seeking the public's help in locating three people they say broke into a Hardeeville home and stole weapons, jewelry and several puppies.

Jasper County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Jeff Crosby said officers responded May 12 to a reported residential burglary at Oakwood Drive. He said the burglary happened during the day and no one had been at home.

Three people were seen at a door via footage from a home surveillance camera. Crosby said two people attempted to pry open the door with a crow bar and the third held a weapon while watching out around the home.

When the door could not be opened, one person struck the glass door with a crow bar, shattering it and allowing them to enter the home, Crosby said.

Crosby said they stole jewelry, weapons and several American bully puppies. He said there are leads in the case, but the public's help is needed.

"This was in a residential neighborhood and it is possible that the suspects knew the victim, but this remains under investigation," he said.
