MCSO: Men arrested in Willits with more than 125 marijuana plants in trailer

Two Lake County men were arrested in Willits recently for allegedly transporting more than 125 marijuana plants illegally, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the MCSO, a deputy stopped a vehicle traveling south on Highway 101 around 11:30 p.m. May 6 in the Willits area for what were reportedly “numerous vehicle code violations.”

The two occupants reportedly consented to a search of the vehicle and the trailer they were pulling, and inside the trailer deputies reportedly found 128 live marijuana plants that were approximately two-feet tall.

The men with the plants, identified as Jesus A. Paredes, 24, of Clearlake, and Juna C. Marquez-Diego, 36, of Clearlake, were reportedly driving the plants from Covelo to Clearlake without the proper paperwork declaring that they were in possession of the plants legally.

Paredes and Marquez-Diego were both arrested on suspicion of transporting marijuana for sale and conspiracy to commit a crime, and each booked into Mendocino County Jail under $20,000 bail.
