City, parish authorities make arrests on meth, prescription drug charges

Morgan City, Berwick and St. Mary Parish authorities all made drug-related arrests Monday, and Assumption deputies detained a man wanted for aggravated assault in St. Martin.

Morgan City

Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 37 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

—Quentin Theodore Delco, 40, Bowman Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:10 a.m. Monday on charges of simple battery, possession of methamphetamine, possession of alprazolam and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Matthew James Miller, 28, Marshall Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:06 a.m. Monday on charges of simple burglary, theft (under $1,000) and possession of stolen things ($1,000-$50,000).

—Michael Charles Barletta Jr., 40, Hemlock Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:08 p.m. Monday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

—David C. Acosta, 54, Dawn Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:38 p.m. Monday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and improper lane usage.

Berwick

Police Chief David S. Leonard reported these arrests:

—Russell Blanchard Jr., 34, Allison Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:27 a.m. Monday on charges of turn signal required 100 feet prior to intersection required, possession of marijuana (under 14 grams), possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine, and on a hold for the Morgan City Police Department.

About 7:07 p.m. Monday, a vehicle was observed to not signal properly at an intersection. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and contact was made with Blanchard.

While speaking with Blanchard, officers detected an odor of marijuana from the vehicle. Blanchard refused to allow officers to search the vehicle after the odor was detected, at which time a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle.

A warrants check revealed that Blanchard had two active warrants through the Morgan City Police Department. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and marijuana, methamphetamine, and items of drug paraphernalia were located inside.

Blanchard was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked. A hold was placed on Blanchard as well for the Morgan City Police Department. Blanchard remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

—Malcolm Sims, 34, Second Street, Ruston, was arrested at 9:53 a.m. Monday on warrants alleging speeding 54 mph in a 50 mph zone, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

About 9:53 a.m. Monday, officers with the Berwick Police Department traveled to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, where Sims was located and held active warrants through the Berwick Police Department. Sims was placed under arrest and transported back to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked.

Sims remains incarcerated at the Berwick Police Department with a $5,250 bond.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 34 complaints and made these arrests:

—Ronald James Winslow, 62, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:06 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set.

—Dalton Alexander Jr., 42, Patterson, was arrested at 7:04 p.m. Monday on three warrants alleging failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Bail was set at $13,925.96.

—Leslie Ann Bonvillian, 42, Amelia, was arrested at 2:17 a.m. Tuesday on three warrants allegingfailure to appear on the charge of battery of a dating partner. Bonvillian was released on a $160 fine-paid.

—Jennifer Lynn Rawlings, 31, Jeanerette, was arrested at 7:100 p.m. Monday by the Narcotics Section on a charge of possession of Xanax.
Rawlings was released on a $4,000 bond.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Michael Aucoin, 34, Ada B Court, Pierre Part, was arrested Thursday on a St. Martin Parish on a felony fugitive warrant alleging aggravated assault with a firearm.

On Thursday afternoon, deputies went to Aucoin’s home along with Wildlife & Fisheries Agents and were able to take him into custody.

Aucoin was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on the warrant and will be transferred to the custody of St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
