ABC is the latest broadcast network to unveil it’s 2022 Fall TV schedule (following NBC), and there’s less comedy, more Bachelor in Paradise and a new primetime Jeopardy series. Also: Several series are moving to new nights (including one freshman hit).
♦ ABC is downsizing its comedy presence from two nights (Tuesday and Wednesday) to just one (Wednesday). As part of that consolidation, red-hot Abbott Elementary is moving from its old Tuesday perch into Wednesday’s 9 pm anchor position. The Conners, which previously had the Wednesday-9 spot, will now kick off the night at 8 pm, where it will lead into The Goldbergs.
♦ Summertime staple Bachelor in Paradise is getting a regular season upgrade, airing both on Mondays from 8-10 pm (replacing DWTS) and Tuesdays from 8-10 pm.
♦ A Million Little Things, which is likely heading into its final season, is being held until midseason. Also warming the bench until ’23: Sophomore comedy The Wonder Years and the new Gina Rodriguez comedy Not Dead Yet.
♦ The new Hilary Swank drama Alaska has scored the plum Thursdays-at-10 perch following Grey’s Anatomy, bumping former occupant Big Sky to Wednesdays-at-10. Meanwhile, The Niecy Nash-Betts-led Rookie spinoff will air Tuesdays-at-10.
♦ A new weekly celebrity edition of Jeopardy! (more details here) will be paired with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune on Sunday night.

No decisions have been made yet on the future of Supermarket Sweep.
I hate when they put all the comedies on one night. (I also hate when there’s so few comedies it only takes one night to air them all.) Looking forward to Gina Rodriguez’ new show, though the fact that two Caucasian blondes were hired to be her best friends? Let’s just say it was smart to recast them, as talented as those actresses are.
I don’t care when they air because I watching nothing ‘live’, and I’d be happy to have few ‘comedies’ because most aren’t anything of the sort (nor are they interesting at all).
People of different ethnicities can’t be friends.
I have friends with different ethnicitie than me and we are quite close .
Tell it to Dan R. here above
Four hours of bachelor in paradise? Yikes abc
It’s ridiculous!
Exactly what I was going to say. So YIKES from both of us. That’s putting all your eggs in one basket. It’s no wonder ABC keeps hitting the bottom of the ratings barrel.
Yeah ABC seems content with remaining in 4th place
Ya, 4 hours is ridiculous during the dead summer prime time, let alone the fall prime time.
Also Love Jeopardy, but there is too much of a good thing. I hope the celebrity edition is a limited episode season.
Still very Happy Home Economics made it to season 3. Hope the comedy block gives it a boost in viewers.
BIP is always 2 days & 2 hours. It’s just normally on during the summer so you probably didn’t notice.
What about Supermarket Sweep??? Is that officially dead??
I’m assuming since it’s not on the fall schedule, that they quietly cancelled it.
No decisions have been made yet. –Mgmt.
Ugggggh, I hope it comes back!!
They said nothing about To Tell The Truth so I’m assuming that’s cancelled as well.
That season JUST ended.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep a show like Abbott at 8pm and The Connors at 9pm? Feels like more multi-generations are available to watch at 8pm…
And just my luck – Not Dead Yet is one of the only new shows I’m interested in, so of course it’s midseason.
Abbott at 8pm would make a lot more sense to me too.
Looking forward to the new show Alaska with Hilary Swank
Looks like Sunday night will be watching other channels
Four hours of Bachelor in Paradise per week? Sheesh.
Alaska at 10pm following a Grey’s lead in that isn’t as strong as it used to be? Yeah, this screams cancelled. :(
A lot of good it did Rebel.
Exactly what I was thinking. And I think Rebel fit in more with the GA crowd. I’m going to be cautiously optimistic, though. I enjoy Hilary Swank a lot and hope this show gets a fair shot.
But Rebel would have been terrible no matter when it aired…
Alaska looks a lot like Big sky.
I personally watched one Bachelor show ever, can’t believe anyone watching 4 hours. I have DVR’d Grey’s this year so I can watch it this summer, when nothing is on. Really not that interested. A million Little Things coming on in mid-season will probably kill that show. ABC loves being in third place.
The Goldbergs at 8:30pm tells me the network has no confidence in the show leading the night anymore and that this could very well be the final season. The Conners taking the slot tells me ABC think the show will perform better and in turn sure up the night.
Rookie Feds scheduling also suggests the network wants to tap into that demographic what with the show also being female led. I think ABC has confidence in the show and will give an early back order to make 22 eps.
IMO the Rookie Feds will bomb.
Yeah, maybe The Conners does better in delayed viewing and on Hulu? Also, I think it’s time for The Goldberg’s to call it quits. It had a good run.
Yeah the Conners does really good with delayed viewings. Honestly the Goldbergs should have ended this season. Show hasn’t been good since season 5.
I think The Goldbergs is still good. Still sitcoms at most last what 10-12 seasons.
Sony would have cut the license fee enough to secure this season but I highly doubt they can do much more.
And yet they renewed it. (But it IS very much just a shell of what it once was.)
It tells you ABC had nothing from pilot season and goldburgs was given to them next to free from litigate.
It’s not a bad plan abbot was the only show with any legs, conners and goldbuegs should give it a good lead in
The Goldbergs is their number one comedy and the Conners is number 2. The only weak link in the block is Home Economics
in defense of Home Economics it was vs. This is Us .
This Is Us was on Tuesday
A bit of an incompatible show leading into Big Sky, but I’m just glad they gave it another season
No reason to watch ABC until A Million Little Things returns.
Exactly the way I feel.
Two nights of Bachelor in Paradise???
This crap show should be moved.
My prediction ABC places fourth on Monday Tuesday Wednesday third on Thursday and Sunday and Second on Friday.
Great Schedule NOT!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a fairly solid schedule actually, especially Wednesday. They are going too much on Bachelor I agree but it’ll help Rookie Feds to survive.
Overall, I’m not interested in ABC’s programming this year, but I’ll take a peek at Alaska even though it has cancelled written all over it considering the time slot.
Wow, I never realized the ONLY show I watch on the network is The Good Doctor 😳😳
Now I’ll give Big Sky a watch because of Jensen.
Four hours of Bachelor in Paradise? ABC moved DWTS for this? This is the best ABC can do?!?!?! How do webs want to be seen positively as quality programmers at awards time by filling up the week like this? If Bachelor Nation is so powerful, they can show up on Friday and Saturday nights! There has to be original programming or airing of streaming shows in the ABC corporate family to fill a schedule with something of worth.
Wow. There have been many years where I’ve watched ABC almost every night. Looks like starting in the fall it will be Thursday nights and Sundays at 10:00 ET.
Oh, almost missed Monday at 10:00. I do love The Good Doctor.
I like that The Conners and The Goldbergs are back to back now, makes it easier than having to switch the channel from 8:30 to 9, the n back to ABC at 9.
I don’t think I have watched ABC since “Lost” and “Once Upon A Time “were on.
The Rookie and Big Sky are my only current ABC shows
I totally agree…I hardly ever watch it!!! Even dancing with the stars isn’t near as good as it used to be in the beginning. I do love the Good Doctor though!!! That was a great end of season cliff hanger!
Good news for ABC: I’ll be watching them 8-11 on Wednesday. The bad news: That’s it, except for The Rookie.
Woof Bachelor in Paradise for 4 hours each week. I imagine it will only run for about 8 weeks…but still that seems like a ton.
They’re going to kill The Wonder Years by holding it as a mid season replacement.
Dancing with the Stars always brought in so many viewers until Tyra Banks was given a job there. Tom and Erin were great and it all worked. Big loss for ABC, so many people are leaving network TV now.
Yep, it totally went downhill when Tyra took over!!!
I feel like the networks gave up on trying. Greys is not averaging 20mil anymore ABC!!!!! Alaska isnt going to prosper at 10:00pm behind a show that averages 3-5mil!
Big Sky moves back Wednesday 10/9
So dumb of ABC to put Bachelor in Paradise in old DWTS slot. I think they have made a BIG mistake getting rid of DWTS. That has been one of my favorite shows since it started. I will =never watch Bachelor whether in Paradise or Hell.
In paradise or hell? Hahahaha, I love it! I’m dying! Too funny.
Streaming is becoming pretty much my best friend lately and it seems we’re going to be getting much closer by the looks of things.
Is ABC trying to kill Big Sky? Putting it up against Chicago P.D. is a terrible idea, it’s going to get crushed.
