Yesterday in Puglia, Italy, Gucci debuted its new resort 2023 collection at the magical Castle del Monte—and the Italian label naturally had tons of celebrities show up for the occasion. Among the stars in the front row was Lana del Rey, Maneskin, Elle Fanning, and Paul Mescal. But it was Gucci muse Dakota Johnson who caught our eye: The actor showed up in a red leather blazer and white lace slip dress embroidered with black beadwork and fringe, all of which was punctuated by a pair of huge sleazy-chic aviator sunglasses.

Johnson is right on trend in the accessories department. Big, honking shades have been trending for the spring-summer season, as recently seen on stars like Kim Kardashian and Dua Lipa. Shield shades from the 2000s are in particular having a comeback. But Johnson is clearly feeling a more 1970s aesthetic—when is she not?—with her metal-rimmed aviators, which had a chain detail. (Her mini black patent Jackie 1961 bag also felt decidedly retro).

Though the star's ensemble was very much fashion show-worthy, her statement shades could be easily paired with a simple white tee and jeans, and it would still feel super elevated and stylish. Johnson may just be onto something here. Consider it summer’s easiest styling hack: Throw on a gargantuan pair of sunglasses, and your outfit is ready to go.
