Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street will air Brookside star Simon O'Brien's first scenes next week, as a new romance storyline for Sean Tully gets underway.

Digital Spy exclusively revealed earlier this month that Simon, who is known for his role as Damon Grant on Brookside, would soon be making his Corrie debut as newcomer Frank Bardsley, and the details of his first appearance have now been revealed.

Frank is introduced when he calls into the Rovers Return for a drink next week. He quickly begins flirting with Sean (Antony Cotton) and it's obvious that Sean is smitten with him.

As Frank leaves the pub, Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) urges Sean to go after him, in case their flirtation has the potential to turn into something more.

Will Sean agree to pursue Frank – and could this be the start of a new cobbles relationship?

Whatever happens next, it seems that their potential romance won't be plain sailing as another Street resident happens to already be acquainted with Frank.

A Corrie insider previously told Digital Spy: "While Sean is smitten, there may be more to Frank than meets the eye.

"Frank went to school with local undertaker George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), who knows details about his past and is wary of him.

"Is Frank the same guy that George knew all those years ago, or has he changed his ways?"

Simon played Damon, who was the youngest son of Bobby and Sheila Grant on Brookside between 1982 and 1987. He later appeared in a three-part spin-off series as Damon, alongside Gillian Kearney's character Debbie McGrath.

Damon and Debbie followed the young couple in York as they attempted to find work, but the spin-off ended in tragedy when Damon was stabbed and killed.

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, May 27 at 8pm on ITV. The show also streams on the ITV Hub.
