Amber Heard Compared to Dr. Evil in Latest Viral Wardrobe Moment

After a weeklong pause in the trial between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard in Fairfax County, Virginia, Heard took the stand this week for her cross-examination and was mocked by many people online for her clothing because they felt it resembled Dr. Evil.

Heard is appearing in court after Depp sued her for defamation asking for $50 million for loss of earnings, which he argued is a result of a Washington Post op-ed Heard wrote in 2018 stating she was the survivor of domestic abuse. Heard has countersued Depp for $100 million.

One psychologist claimed the way Heard has been treated online during the trial has been viewed with "utter horror" by many women.

And now, Heard's choice of outfit for Monday is being mocked online.

Thousands of people tweeted or liked and commented on tweets making the unfavorable comparison between Heard's choice of outfit to the Austin Powers movie villain played by Mike Myers.

YouTube user Jason Chow even went as far as to deep-fake Heard's face onto the body of Myers in a scene from Austin Powers.

Heard's apparel was also mocked on TikTok with hundreds of thousands of people liking and interacting with short videos which made the same comparison of Dr.Evil and Amber Heard.

While Heard's appearance was the source of amusement for many online, psychologist Dr. Jessica Taylor wasn't laughing.

"We've failed badly as a collective when we are publicly mocking & picking apart women in a court case about male violence," Taylor wrote on Twitter, referencing the attitude of people discussing Heard online. "So many women are watching this play out in utter horror. Amber is not the 'perfect victim', but nor is any other woman or girl - that's the point."

Taylor has not been speaking out in support of Heard throughout the trial, she was more speaking out against the vitriol and scrutiny she's received despite being an alleged victim of domestic violence and sexual abuse. The latest focus on Heard's outfit could be an example of yet another "misogynistic trope" according to Taylor.

"Every misogynistic trope possible has now been utilized - and every woman who has ever been abused or been through a court process like this - or is awaiting a case hearing - is watching on in horror," she wrote in a column for The Independent.
