On Monday, May 16, 2022 about 2:50pm Newton County 9-1-1 center received reports of a two vehicle crash with entrapment in the area of SR 55 at CR 900 N. (1 mile south of the SR 10 and SR 55 intersection)

The preliminary investigation indicated that a 23 year old Illinois man driving a truck, hauling equipment was traveling southbound SR 55.

The truck was struck in the driver's side at the intersection of CR 900 N by a van driven by a 72 year old Lake Village woman who was traveling westbound CR 900 N and disregarded the stop sign.

The Lake Village woman along with her two passengers an 82 year old Lake Village woman and 65 year old Lake Village man were transport to St. Anthony Hospital Crown Point for further medical evaluation. Injuries are not believed to be life threatening at the time.
