Former Canadian County deputy arrested, accused of sexually assaulting inmate

A former Canadian County deputy was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting an inmate three times.

Investigators said it happened while he was driving her across the state. The former deputy was driving the female inmate from Marshall County in southern Oklahoma to Canadian County.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said that the inmate reported being assaulted on April 7, three times in three neighboring counties: Marshall County, Carter County and Jefferson County.

The drive takes only about an hour and fifteen minutes and the woman said she was assaulted three times in that distance.

Canadian County asked the OSBI to investigate after the claims were made and now, 58-year-old David Wayne Loman is charged with forcible sodomy, sexual battery and engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses.

His bond was set at $25,000. Canadian County Sheriff Christ West said that Loman resigned as soon as he was told about the accusations.

West said Loman was only a part-time deputy. It’s not clear how long he’d been on the job, nor how many women Loman transported alone during his time with the sheriff’s department.
