The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office says it is experiencing an issue with its non-emergency and emergency 911 telephone lines.

“While we are receiving some calls on our 911 system, our service provider cannot confirm if all calls made to 911 are getting through,” said the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says no calls are getting through on our non-emergency number when calling (504) 271-2501.

If anyone calls 911 or the non-emergency number and cannot get through they can call any of the following numbers for assistance:

(504) 579-4888

(504) 442-5739

(504) 784-3087

All three numbers go directly to the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center.

They say their service provider is working to resolve the issue with their 911 service.

According to news reports, the 911 service in New Orleans went down Sunday afternoon. City officials told reporters that they were not notified by their phone service provider at the time of the outage.

Officials say during the outage, emergency 911 calls were routed to Jefferson Parish’s call center, which saw a huge influx of emergency calls coming in from Orleans parish. 911 service in New Orleans has since been restored but city leaders are now considering other options for their emergency call service provider.
