Eugene Councilor Jennifer Yeh, left, and former councilor Jennifer Solomon are the two candidates in this May primary election.

This story will continue to be updated as more results come in. Because ballots could be mailed on Election Day starting this year, elections officials caution the winners may not be known for several days. Election offices expect vote counts after Tuesday to rise more than in past years due to valid ballots arriving at counting locations up to seven days after the election.

It's a tight race, but incumbent Eugene City Councilor Jennifer Yeh is leading former Eugene Councilor Jennifer Solomon in the primary race for the city's Ward 4 seat based on the votes counted on election night.

Yeh has a small lead with 2,447 votes, and Solomon with 2,171, as of 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Yeh told The Register-Guard it's "a little too early to be taking a victory lap," but that she is pleased with the results so far, and said it's "certainly a good sign."

"I'm really excited about the future and what our city can do together," Yeh said. "I really hope to be a part of whatever that is."

Yeh wanted to thank her volunteers and her opponent for having run a "very great campaign," but said she's still waiting to see what the final results will be.

Solomon said she is still "cautiously optimistic" that she will win the race in the final results.

"It's not over until it's over," Solomon said. "We ran a good, clean, positive campaign, and we worked really hard. We didn't leave anything on the table."

The other Eugene City Council ward races were uncontested:

  • Ward 3: Alan Zelenka, the seat he currently holds
  • Ward 5: Mike Clark, the seat he currently holds
  • Ward 6: Greg Evans, the seat he currently holds
