In a season where wins haven’t come easily, this one was special.

Special for Troy seniors Alexie Garcia and Alyssa Kelso, who would be playing their last game at home.

Behind the solid pitching of Elaine Folkerts the glove work of a rangy infield and a couple of Lady Bluehawk efforts.

The Lady Trojans came away with a 9-8 win over the Thompson Falls Lady Bluehawks.

Folkerts and the Lady Trojans would face the minimum number of Lady Bluehawk batters in the third and sixth innings.

Troy would score in the first inning. A Thompson Falls error would allow Leslie Gravier to score from third base. After one inning the score was Troy 1, Thompson Falls 0.

Scoring two runs in their half of the second inning, the Lady Bluehawks would take their only lead of the game at 2 to 1.

That lead would be short lived. A Jaylee Leighty single, a Lacy Gravier hit by pitch and an Allie Carr infield single would bring in a run.

Angel Richards and Folkerts would knock in runs with sacrifice flys. A Lady Bluehawk error would bring in two more Troy runs.

The Lady Trojans would retake the lead after two complete innings. The Lady Trojans led 6-2, a lead they would not relinquish.

Audrianna Borgmann’s bases loaded groundout would bring another Lady Trojan run.

Troy would take their largest lead of the game at 7 to 2.

Thompson Falls fought back with a four-run fifth inning narrowing the score, Troy 7, Thompson Falls 6.

The Lady Trojans would respond. Garcia’s two out single would plate two more runs. The score stood at Troy 9, Thompson Falls 6.

In their last at bat, Thompson Falls would close the gap, scoring two runs and pulling within one run — Troy 9, Thompson Falls 8.

The Lady Trojans buckled down. A pop-up and a line drive double — game over. Lady Trojans 9, Lady Bluehawks 8.

The Lady Trojans participated in the East-West Tournament in Cut Bank this past weekend.

Troy and Thompson Falls meet again today, this time with a bit more at stake.

The winner advances to the Western B-C Divisional Tournament this weekend.

The loser hangs up their spikes until next year.

The game will be played in Thompson Falls.
