CLEVELAND — It was an emotional moment as a Cleveland icon departed Northeast Ohio for its new home in Clearwater, Florida.
3News was there Tuesday morning as the fleet of Lolly the Trolley vehicles left Cleveland forever.
"Goodbye. I just hope they're happy," owner Sherill Witt said with tears in her eyes as she waved to each driver while the trolleys pulled out one by one.
The fleet of legendary red vehicles will now be part of a tour company in Clearwater.
"Saying goodbye to all the people we’ve known forever, and having to tell all of my favorite customers that we can't do anything for them again," Witt said of making their decision to stop operations after 37 years and more than 2.5 million passengers.. "And I’m just going to miss everybody."
Lolly the Trolley... A true Cleveland icon.
"We did the best we could for the city we love," Witt said. "And I think the city is appreciative."
