Drill ongoing in Hutchinson Tuesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Today, Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in conjunction with Reno County EMS, Reno County Emergency Management, Hutchinson Fire Department, Hutchinson Police Department, Hutchinson Public Works, Evergy, Kansas Gas Service, Reno County Emergency Communications Center and other organizations are conducting a large-scale emergency preparedness exercise/training across the city of Hutchinson.

The exercise has been planned for more than six months with local and regional partners. This is a natural disaster exercise and is designed to prepare staff for a variety of emergency situations should they occur. This exercise will involve multiple actors playing the part of injured.

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center campus and the Annex, formerly known as Dillon Living Center, are the main location for the drill Tuesday, it started at roughly 8:30 a.m.

A second location is the Command and Training Center, 3201 E 4th Ave, Hutchinson.

All patient care operations at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center continue. All patient visitors and those seeking treatment are welcome. Please exercise caution driving on campus in order to protect the patients, staff and role players.
