Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks' latest episode (May 16) ended with Maxine Minniver's heart in tatters after Warren Fox called time on their relationship.
Maxine and Warren have been facing troubles in their relationship recently, after Warren slept with his ex Sienna and turned down Maxine's offer to live together.
Despite admitting that he and Sienna Blake "bring the worst out in each other", it appeared that Warren couldn't help but "keep coming back [to her] for more" and he finally made the decision to end things with Maxine.

In tonight's (May 16) E4 first-look episode, Warren ran into Liberty at the hospital and was shocked to learn that it had been a chemical poisoning that had resulted in Maxine's recent collapse and that it hadn't been a ploy to make him stay with her.
Feeling guilty over questioning the reason behind her hospitalisation, Warren rushed out of the room to find Maxine.
However, his apology was met with plenty of pushback as Maxine confessed that she felt betrayed that he hadn't believed her at a time she was "scared" and "needed" him.
"What's a relationship if you can't lean on each other?" she questioned.
Frustrated by his recent behaviour, Maxine went on to call him out, accusing him of being "all over the place".
"If I even mention anything to do with commitment, you change the subject," Maxine continued. "I'm not going to beg you. Because believe it or not, I'm better than that. I deserve better than that."
Finally at the end of her rope, Maxine gave Warren an ultimatum: unless he was ready to give her a "loving, secure future", this was the time to back out.
Later on, Maxine ran into Sienna, who was under the impression that Warren had already told Maxine the truth about Sienna and Warren sleeping together, but was left shocked when an unaware Maxine confessed to being "crazy in love" with Warren instead.
With Maxine still adamant that she and Warren were meant to be, a furious Sienna turned to Warren and accused him of having picked Maxine over her.

"She is a decent human being, I need that," Warren insisted, but the pair's spat only made Warren realise that his affair with Sienna had something that his relationship with Maxine lacked – unbridled passion.
Unable to escape from the truth – that there wouldn't come a time when he wouldn't be drawn to Sienna – Warren decided to finally do the right thing by Maxine and set her free.
In a tearful moment between the two, an emotional Warren confessed to his girlfriend that she deserved someone "caring" who wouldn't hurt her – and that wasn't him.
