Missing toddler from Michigan found at BG hotel

A missing toddler from Michigan was located in Bowling Green Monday evening, according to BGPD Lt. Adam Skaff.

Staff at a local hotel reportedly received a phone call from the Monroe, Michigan, police department about the missing 2-year-old girl. Local and state authorities had issued an Endangered and Missing Advisory for the toddler, who was believed to be purposely hidden from officials by her mother and grandmother.

The hotel staff looked up news articles and recognized the girl in the photos as a guest at the hotel. The staff then called Bowling Green Police Division around 9 p.m.

Officers located the Michigan vehicle in the parking lot, and went to the room and found the grandmother and little girl, Skaff said.

The toddler was picked up by Monroe County Children’s Services. The grandmother, Heather Bolles-Ery, 48, had an active warrant out of Michigan. The mother had not been seen by staff at the hotel, Skaff said.

Monroe County’s 38th Circuit Court had issued an order last Thursday for officials to take the toddler into protective custody. Child Protective Services investigated and reported that the girl was missing.
