Coronation Street has revealed some of the secrets behind the shooting of the soap's latest dramatic trailer.

Corrie unveiled an exciting trailer yesterday (May 16), which teases a big week of episodes due to air later this month, with the focus firmly on the bitter battle between Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) and Abi Webster (Sally Carman) over custody of their baby son, Alfie.

The trailer, which you can watch above, features some experimental camerawork with Imran and Abi appearing to fall into the ground and back up again, while various other Street characters approach them from behind in slow motion.

A fire also appears to build in the background.

The soap has now shared some behind-the-scenes secrets from the making of the trailer on Twitter, with the clip revealing how the magic was created.

Imran actor Charlie is shown falling sideways onto a crash mat while a camera attached to a rope is also pushed in order to follow him down to the ground, revealing how that spinning effect from the promo was created.

A number of staff are also shown pushing a wrecked car along the cobbles, while plenty of scenes are shown to have been filmed in front of a green (or rather, white or black) screen to be completed in post-production.

Some of the trailer's background players are seen in action, with Kevin Webster actor Michael Le Vell filming a clip in which he grapples with a policeman and Adam Barlow star Sam Robertson acting out brandishing a finger at Imran.

Exactly what it all means remains to be seen, but we can be sure to expect some major fireworks when the intense scenes air.

John Whiston, Managing Director of Continuing Drama & Head of ITV in the North, has promised that fans will be treated to a "fantastic week of edge-of-your-seat drama" when Imran and Abi's feud comes to a head.

"Secrets unravel, truths hurt and lives well and truly turn upside down as the lengths Imran went to to take baby Alfie away from Abi are revealed," he said. "Whether your sympathies are with Abi, with Toyah or with Imran, this is not a week to be missed."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
