MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Brewton-Parker Women’s Track and Field student-athlete Rachel Jarriel has been named to the Southern States Athlete Conference Women’s Track and Field Scholar-Athlete Team presented by Barnes & Noble College, conference officials announced on Monday.

Jarriel is listed along with 10 other student-athletes from across the conference who earned the honor.

The senior from Collins, Ga. earned the honor with a 3.77 GPA at the time of submission and was also a member of the All-Academic Team earlier this season. In addition to her performances off the track, Jarriel also punched her ticket to NAIA Nationals with a Qualifying “A” Standard in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, and have competed in 50% of competitions.
