Gwinnett County man on the run for a year now in jail for murder

A man accused of a Gwinnett County murder is now in custody after being on the run for over a year.

On Monday the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Deavian Jasiri-Teeir Netters. Netters is one of four people involved in a deadly shooting at a Lawrenceville hookah lounge last year.

The fatal shooting occurred on April 24, 2021 at the Mirza Hookah Lounge on Herrington Road. One man, Shaquon McKensey, was killed. Three other suspects were arrested shortly after the incident, but Netters has been on the run.

According to the statement from Sheriff’s Office, fugitive investigators learned Netters was back in Gwinnett County. “Due to the severity of Netters' charges and his previous history with law enforcement, Georgia State Patrol S.W.A.T. assisted with executing the search warrant at the residence.” When authorities arrived to the home, Netters attempted to flee out the back of the house. He was confronted by other officers causing Netters to return inside where he was arrested.

Netters faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He remains in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

The other suspects in the case that were arrested include Julian Netters, who arrested in Tennessee in June after the shooting. At the time, Chanty Netters-Brown was charged with accessory and Josiah Netters was charged with carjacking in Gwinnett County. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the relationship of these individuals has not been confirmed. It has also not been clarified if the charges against the latter two suspects are connected directly to the homicide.
