Elections in Fort Smith ahead May 24
Races in Sebastian and Crawford counties listed
Elections are ahead Tuesday, May 24 in Fort Smith, Sebastian and Crawford counties for school board seats and county offices.

Voters in Fort Smith will also decide two sales tax issues.
The first of the taxes if approved would go toward parks capital improvement projects and the Fort Smith Fire Department. The extension is one-fourth of a 1% tax. Half of the tax goes to the fire department and half goes to parks and recreation capital improvement projects.
The second would go toward the Fort Smith Police Department and consent decree projects. The extension is a three-fourths of a 1% tax, and 83% of the collections will be used for consent decree purposes, and 17% will be collected for the police department. This tax was previously used to pay off city bonds.

School Board Member Troy Eckelhoff is seeking re-election. Phillip Whiteaker is challenging him for the position.

Sandy Dixon and Brittney Hall are both seeking this position.

School Board Member Dee Blackwell is seeking re-election. Ryan Goodwin is also running for the position.
Fort Smith School Board Member Zone 4
School Board Member Talicia Richardson currently holds At-Large Position 5 but is running to represent Zone 4 in the upcoming election.
Fort Smith School Board Member Zone 5
School Board Member Dalton Person currently holds At-Large Position 2 but is running to represent Zone 5 in the upcoming election. Tara Mendoza is running against him.
Fort Smith School Board Member At-Large Position 1
School Board Member Matt Blaylock currently holds At-Large Position 4 but is running to represent At-Large Position 1 in the upcoming election. Madeline Marquette is campaigning against him.
Fort Smith School Board Member At-Large Position 2
