(KNSI) — Anton’s Restaurant in Waite Park is closed for the time being due to flooding issues.

The restaurant said on its Facebook page that it closed on Saturday, May 14th. The post showed numerous pictures of the parking lot underwater and standing water in the lobby and dining room. The steps to the deck were also partially submerged.

The owners thanked their customers for their messages of support.

Anton’s will reopen once the water recedes and repairs can be made.

The restaurant is next to the Sauk River, which is under a flood warning.

In 2019, about 44 people were stranded in Anton’s when an ice jam on the river caused water to back up and suddenly rush into the building during dinner service. As you can see in the above photo, local fire departments deployed boats to get everyone out safely.
