Dubuque City Council approved a plan to contribute one million dollars to the Field of Dreams project in Dyersville.
The money will come from the American Rescue Funds Act that the city received for projects such as this.
The investment would go toward a $55 million project to construct a stadium facility at the permanent baseball field that was built by Major League Baseball.
According to the plan, "The 3,000 permanent seat stadium, with the capacity to add over 5,000 temporary seats, will host amateur and professional baseball, community and youth athletics, educational and cultural events, creating a year round destination."
Council members were quick to say they approved of the plan, one saying "What is good for Dyersville is good for Dubuque."
The plan details a quick return on the $1 million investment as many visiting the Field of Dreams will likely stay in hotels in Dubuque.
The council approved the plan 7-0 and still need to negotiate the terms at a later date.
